Welcome to Buffalo Creek Gun Club
Buffalo Creek Gun Club (BCGC) is a member-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit Colorado organization dedicated to advancing firearms education and responsible shooting. Each year, we serve thousands of public shooters, match competitors, and members, fostering a culture built on safety, skill development, and respect. Located at 8,100 feet in elevation, our 47-acre mountain range offers a premier shooting experience surrounded by Colorado’s natural beauty.
Short Range
- Our short range features covered shooting benches with dedicated berms at 25, 50, and 100 yards. Fixed target backer systems are positioned at 7, 15, 20, 50, and 100 yards, providing flexible options for training, sight-in, and practical marksmanship development
Long Range
- Our long range includes 15 dedicated lanes and shooting positions at 200, 300, and 600 yards, built to NRA/CMP target frame standards — ideal for precision practice and competitive disciplines.
BCGC is a remote facility. Cellular service is limited, and once contacted, emergency services may take up to 40 minutes to arrive. Safety is our highest priority — all shooters access and use the range at their own risk.
Access to BCGC is via U.S. Forest Service fire roads. The Club works to maintain the route; however, as a mountain facility, road conditions can change at any time. Snow, runoff, or erosion may impact travel, and higher-clearance vehicles may be required year-round.
We are proud to provide a safe, structured, and uniquely Colorado shooting environment — and we appreciate every shooter who helps us maintain that standard.

BCGC Range Rules & Notices
Prohibited:
Fires, full-auto firearms, steel or steel-core ammo, incendiary/tracer ammo, exploding targets, shot shells, and .50 BMG.
Know the Range Rules:
- Shoot only into the berm. Every bullet must hit the dirt berm. Never shoot at trees, rocks, or the ground.
- If you aren't sure your shot will hit the berm, don't take the shot.
- Keep the muzzle pointed downrange. The only safe direction is at the berm. Be mindful of where your muzzle is pointing at all times.
- Treat every gun as if it’s loaded. Check it yourself. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target and you are ready to fire.
- Steel targets have special rules. Steel requires specific distances and angles to prevent splash-back. Check the rules before setting up steel.
- Eyes and ears are mandatory. Wear protection at all times while shooting.
- If you are alone, the rules don't change. There is no "relaxed mode." You are responsible for following all safety and handling rules, even if no one else is watching.
- All target stands, frames, and personal targets placed in non-standard locations on the short range must be removed before leaving.
- No tree cutting (dead or alive) without prior approval from the BCGC President.
- Range Communications System (BCGC Short Range WiFi) is currently down for the winter.
- BCGC is working to resolve power issues and restore service.
- Board of Directors meetings: 3rd Tuesday each month, 6:30 PM, Aspen Park Community Center, 26215 Sutton Rd., Conifer, CO 80433. Park in the RTD lot across the street.
